Sofia Minson, born in 1984 in Auckland, New Zealand, is a contemporary artist of Ngāti Porou (Māori), Swedish, English, and Irish descent. Her diverse heritage influences her intricate works, which explore identity, culture, and spirituality. Educated at Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney, her art combines traditional Māori motifs with contemporary techniques, featuring realistic portraits and symbolic elements. Her acclaimed “Native Agent” series reimagines Māori portraits, celebrating indigenous strength.
